November is Missions month at Emmanuel, where we highlight our missions partners, raise money for special projects, and encourage everyone to remember that “Missions is Everywhere”.
This year, our goal is to raise $15,000 to go towards three specific projects:
Fulfill our obligations to our missions partners. Emmanuel has partners with individuals and organizations both locally and around the world. Every month we take up a special offering to help meet the financial obligations we have made with these partners. We look to continue to make sure funds come in to bless and encourage them and the work they do. For a full list of our missions partners, check out our missions page.
Provide seed money for a permanent place for the West Kelowna Shelter Society. The mat program began at Emmanuel Church, with the desire to give the homeless in our community a place to sleep in the cold weather months. As the program has developed into a society, it is their desire to see a permanent, stand-alone all-day shelter set up in West Kelowna. We want to help make this vision a reality.
The Rohingya Refugee Crisis. Extreme violence in Myanmar has forced Rohingya families to flee the state. Homes and fields have been set on fire, family members have been killed and the intensity continues. More than 600,000 Rohingya people have fled their homes and have poured into Bangladesh over the last four weeks to escape persecution. Over 1,400 children have arrived by themselves after witnessing the deaths of their parents and loved ones. The influx of refugees is expected to continue and the small region of Bangladesh does not have the capacity to support them. We want to support ERDO (PAOC’s emergency response network) as they work directly with these families. For more information, visit the ERDO site here.

We DOUBLED our giving goal, with a total of $30,000 that was raised for missions! We want to thank everyone who gave this month to support our missions projects.
